The Captain has invited us to a formal reception at 5:00 PM in the Queen’s Room. We are getting all dressed up in our tuxedos and long gowns. As we are dressing, the Captain came on the horn to announce that this ship is traveling the Titanic Route to Southampton, and this ship the Queen Mary2 will be on the site of Titanic tragedy at midnight tonight. The ship will sound its horns in remembrance of that tragic event. Further, he told us that during this time of the year, the icebergs break loose and float into this area of the North Atlantic. He assured us that they have tremendous technology recording the locations of icebergs in the area. Let me tell you, a lot went through my mind–not about this ship, but about the poor souls who went down on that very cold night with the Titanic. Living with history here.
What an incredible trip.
