DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES: Paris Memory FLAME

Filed under: Diana Princess of Wales — tmooresr @ 12:50 pm

While Stephanie and I were flying around Paris on the top of tour bus, we passed by the LIBERTY’S FLAME which was placed at Pont de l’Alma / Alma Bridge, Paris, in memory of the Princess who was killed in a car crash in the tunnel.  When I lived in Paris, the memorial was not there (obviously) so I was caught of guard when I found myself face to face with the memorial.  I grabbed my camera and took two poor photos from the top of the bus.  But, at least they are my photos.

The flame is a replica of the upper end of the STATUE OF LIBERY in New York Harbor which was a gift from the French Nation to the United States in the last century.   The purpose is to keep the memory of the Princess of Wales alive.

What a period of history that was.  I remember exactly where I was when I heard the News:  sitting on a green leather sofa in our TV room–evening time.  My heart missed a beat.
