Every time I go to Portobello Road, I get distracted. One of the most hilarious distractions at the market is Hillary Kashden who has a vintage clothing stall in the market. She knows all the old dealers, and the crowds swarm to her stall to see the “latest.” We have been friends for many, many years; and if I am in London, a distracting visit is always Hillary. We laugh so hard, she can’t get on with her work SO often I am evicted so she can make a small profit here and an even smaller profit there. Today I told her that I was here for 6 months. Her mouth dropped! Every Saturday for six months with Thomas Moore sitting on his chair behind Hillary’s stall. Her face said it all. NOT POSSIBLE Michael is the patient husband who is highly amused by his adorable wife-antique dealer. I took a few photos; they are the latest in a long line of HAT PHOTOS which have made my friend an “international celebrity.” Hillary, you are adorable! And a distraction, for sure! I missed two appointments because of you.
