PRINCE ALBERT’S BUCKINGHAM PALACE

Filed under: Buckingham Palace — tmooresr @ 9:31 pm

When the Palace is open in the summer, I wander through the rooms which are all cream and highlighted in gold which was so fashionable during the Edwardian era.  I can’t help think to myself that the rooms must have been fabulous as they were originally designed and decorated by Prince Albert.  The rooms had so much more color–fresco–and the floors were covered with splendid Persian rugs.  Queen Alexandra commented that she loved the ballroom of Queen Victoria’s time.  I think she felt the “Frenchification” of the palace had ruined much of the beauty of the old palace.  I am posting these photographs for you to judge.  If you have been to palace during recent summer openings, you will see how different they are.

The entrance gallery as seen today.  Unfortunate when compared to the Victoria room.  Sad!

Aren’t these exquisite rooms?  They are dazzling in fact.
