I have not written about the Duke of Edinburgh’s stay in the hospital, causing him to miss some of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, because I am one of those that believes that if we ignore something, it might go away. It is a rather bad trait, I am afraid, but over the years it has been my personality. Seeing the Queen alone walking up the steps of St. Paul’s Cathedral gave me a rather lonely feeling. The Queen’s sense of duty even under these circumstances has endeared her even further to her people. We all have our fingers crossed and hope that the Duke will be able to “go home” to celebrate his 91st birthday. The Queen without the Duke of Edinburgh is unimaginable. Goodness me!
