A few weeks ago, I was reading an article about an “unknown” tiara which the Queen was wearing. The picture showing the tiara was taken in the 1960′s. No one knew the tiara, and the article and posts left the mystery unsolved. I was puzzled as well; I didn’t know or recognize the tiara whatsoever. BUT, I was determined to discover the details. With my new book THE QUEEN’S DIAMONDS, I started my search. On page 286, I found the tiara and its history. It was the Nizam of Hyderabad’s wedding gift to the Princess Elizabeth in 1947. We all know the three button brooches, but I had no idea where they came from either. Now we know! I have tried to find the article where the tiara was discussed– without success. If those who were trying to solve the tiara mystery are reading my blog, they will find the answer here. I will also post a picture of the diamond/ruby tiara which the Queen created with the diamonds from the Nizam of Hyderabad’s wedding present. MYSTERY NOW SOLVED.
