THE ROYAL PORTRAIT OF ELIZABETH II IN THE GARTER ROOM, WINDSOR CASTLE

Filed under: The Queen,Windsor Castle — tmooresr @ 2:05 am

A State Portrait is filled with symbols.  This is the royal portrait of Elizabeth II which hangs in the Garter Room at Windsor Castle.  All the ingredients of a royal portrait are in this fine painting:  Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England.  Fantastic details on Norman Hartnell’s dress. Note all the symbols of royal power:  Order of the Garter, scepter, State Crown, the Coronation Diamonds, and the circlet of George IV.  No question, this is a royal portrait;  it has all the requirements.  The portrait was painted by Sir James Gunn.
