The Gilbert Collection is only partially on exhibition at the V&A. Further rooms are being prepared. But, the portion of the collection which is now on display is beyond belief. The silver gilt is a small portion of the full collection. The mosaic collection is vast; however, only a portion now delights visitors. But the gold boxes are almost all on display in their temporary surroundings. I wrote an article about these gold boxes yesterday, so I am adding photographs that I took today for my readers. The windows made it difficult to control the light, but my camera Isabel and my back-up camera Jo did their very best to combat the challenges. So, hold tight, because I think you will enjoy these fabulous images. Remember, these gold boxes are over two hundred years old; some of the fine jewels and antiques are three hundred years old. THEY WERE ALL CREATED BY ARTISANS WHO MASTERED THEIR SKILLS DURING THEIR LIFETIMES. ENJOY!
