TODAY LONDON ROLLED OUT THE RED CARPET FOR HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II’s BIRTHDAY PARADE, THE TROOPING OF THE COLOURS. It was a week of birthday parties for the Royal Family with the Duke of Edinburgh turning 89 yesterday and the Queen “officially” turning 84 today. The MALL was filled with thousands and thousands of people wishing to wave and show their loyalty and happiness for the Queen’s LONG LIFE. From all evidences, she will enjoy a long reign and life as did her Mother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother who died in 2002 at 101 years of age.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh led the parade in Queen Victoria’s open carriage pulled by two beautiful horses from the Royal Mews. The Prince of Wales followed the Queen’s carriage on horseback. Prince William rode with Camilla Duchess of Cornwell who was wearing a magnificent pink topaz bought by Prince Charles at an auction in 2002.

The Queen’s sense of precision was noted as she expected a perfect military parade; and from the looks on the Queen’s face, she was not let down. When the COLOURS were dropped to salute the Queen, the bands played GOD SAVE THE QUEEN, the National Anthem, and the most moving moment stirred the attending visitors to tears.

The Royal Family returned to Buckinham Palace and on to King George V’s balcony for the FLY PAST where the whole of the Royal Family greeted crowds with waves and smiles. What a magnificent occasion with the planes flying overhead with blue, white, and red smoke greeting the Queen.

The Queen was sending messages to the public on this beautiful occasion. Prince William rode with the Duchess of Cornwall –certainly putting a final period to the old problems. Who would ever have thought this would be the outcome ten years ago? Amazing and FINALLY! Can’t you just hear the Queen saying WE HAVE MOVED ON. ENOUGH! Really a great message–long overdue.

In a carriage behind the Queen rode Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, daughters of HRH the Duke of York and the Duchess of York (Sarah Ferguson). Again, the Queen is sending a message that in spite of the bad behavior of their mother, the Duchess of York, the Queen will not hear of the matter further and has stepped in to support her two granddaughters. There is something about this Queen that is TOUGH. When she says ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, she means it. Superb judgment.
The wonderful photograph of the Queen jesting with the Duke of Edinburgh says it all. She is in firm control, clear in her judgment, and amazingly capable of leading–both her family and the country.

The weather was perfect, and the occasion went off with the precision the Queen expects. Eighty-four glorious years–Wow! With 70% of the British population never knowing any other sovereign, she is the symbol we all know and love. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN AND LONG MAY SHE REIGN.
Wonderful INDEED!

Loved this write-up about the Queen’s birthday. Recently on Trip Advisor someone asked a question about “colouring the troops.” In typical British humour fashion, a Brit wrote, “I can just visualize people with their crayons trying to colour the soldiers.”
