THE QUEEN’S CHRISTMAS SPEECH

Filed under: Uncategorized — tmooresr @ 10:38 am

MERRY CHRISTMAS!  I am amazed that Christmas decorations are up in most stores here, and we aren’t even at Thanksgiving.  Oh well, that’s the world we live in.  As I was driving home from my Saturday shopping, It occurred to me that I would remind my readers that one of the most interesting activities for Christmas day  is the QUEEN’S SPEECH.  The Queen is at Windsor for Christmas, and this pre-recorded speech is presented as if live from the castle.

The speech comes on BBC at 3:00 pm London time, 10:00 am NY time, 8:00 am Salt Lake City time, and 7:00 am California time.  For Anglophiles, this is a “must.”  By the way, if you miss it, you can find it on youtube.com.  Just look up THE QUEEN’S 2010 CHRISTMAS MESSAGE.  Several QUEEN’S SPEECH recordings are on YouTube now.

The first speech was given by a grateful King George V to his beloved people in 1934.  It is truly a wonderful speech.  I will try to find a copy and post it.  For now, I will post the Queen’s 2007 speech.  The Queen has such an engaging way;  she is easy to respect.

I think you will enjoy this experience.

Tom
