Christmas Day is a very busy time for all families who enjoy family gifts, dinner, Christmas lights, gratitude, and spiritual reflections. Christmas for my family is a time of the year when we are together from various locations in the country. Stephanie and I–Grandma and Grandpa–join with our five children and their spouses and with our thirteen grandchildren. Family dogs lounge on the kitchen floor waiting for a morsel from the ovens, and puzzles, cards, and sports events on the Television add wonderful confusion to our Christmas day. The individual families celebrate Christmas in their homes before the great onslaught of Christmas afternoon when our entire family members exchange small gifts which usually have humorous connections and are often down-right rude. We are a very active Christian family, so Christmas services and Church and family prayers accompany our wonderfully chaotic holiday. Our King Charles Cavalier named Rosie barks, while the big dogs Marcus, Jax, Sargeant chase each other and howl until they are given their portion of the Christmas dinner. But at 8:00 AM, Stephanie and I have a few moments when we hear the Queen’s Speech in London. Later in the afternoon, I play it again for the entire family from a YOUTUBE recording. I remember very clearly when my grandson Harrison found the Queen’s Christmas Message on YOU TUBE. I was spellbound with the new technology and often return to those videos to review the great events which the Queen mentions in her messages. I encourage you all not to forget to include this event in your very busy Christmas day enjoyment.
