Fascinating. I bought the book BERTIE, THE LIFE OF EDWARD VII, and believe me, it is a “tell-all” booking. It is amazing how the King comes across as a very likable person.

This is a fascinating article. Remember, photography was in its infancy, and the Prince Consort had been dead for only a year. Send Bertie off on a 4-month tour at such a time must have had multiple reasons–many I think we can guess!

I have been studying this photograph since I received it yesterday from a contributor. Even though Edward was the Queen’s son, she was not attracted to him as a person. She liked strong men who possessed determined character, leadership, physical attraction of kind or another! There was such bad blood between the Prince of Wales and the Queen that I would image his behavior was repulsive to her. I don’t think this photograph would have brought a smile to her face. Very, very interesting, however.
