WINDSOR CASTLE ROYAL TATTOO and the ROYAL WINDSOR HORSE SHOW 2011 ** 11-15 MAY

One of the most spectacular events for visitors to London mid-May is the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. I attended last year and was so surprised by the size and quality of the event. I was in my seat by 8:00 PM and sat there admiring the lighted view of the castle. The actual performance started at 8:30 PM. I didn’t realize that my ticket included the Royal Windsor Horse Show during the day. I will be on the Queen Mary2 this year at this time; otherwise, I would be at Windsor. The other change I would make is the day I would select for my visit. Sunday night is a much grander event with fireworks and the attendance of the Queen. I have been to the Edinburgh Tattoo and the Windsor Castle Royal Tattoo, and they are both spectacular. But, goodness, while you are in London, the eventis right there in front of you with activities all day long. If you like marching bands, the bagpipes, magnificent horses, and fireworks with lighted Windsor Castle as a backdrop, this is the place for you. I will post all the details I can find so you can make plans.
