OUR EUROSTAR RETURN TO LONDON FROM PARIS WITH THE “TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB” DRUMMER BEN THOMPSON

Traveling opens interesting doors.  Last year, we were returning to London from the Paris Open on the Eurostar.  Suddenly, we realized that we were traveling with Andy Murray.  He was frustrated because of his loss, but he was just a very pleasant fellow.  He was accompanied by his mother who was “cooling him down.”  We felt all year that we know this tennis star as he has become a world tennis pro.  Well, last evening, Mrs. Moore, my friend June Gibson, and I were on the Eurostar returning to London again from Paris.  We managed to reach our seat only to find a very nice, very young man sitting in my wife’s window seat.  June and I took one side of the table and my wife told the young man who was watching Harry Potter to stay in the window seat because he was all hooked up watching movies on his computer.  As we traveled along, we began to chat with this most wonderful young man who introduced himself as Ben Thompson.  I have grandchildren his age!  He said he was a drummer.  We finally got it out of him that he was a drummer for the group TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB.  We nudged him a little further to tell us about his band, and we learned his group is #2 on the Charts in the UK and #6 on the Charts in the US.  We also learned that President Obama personally bought out all the seats for the Washington, DC performance for his daughter’s birthday party.  Then I asked Ben if his band was coming to Portland, Oregon.  The answer was YES, on 21 October in the Crystal Ballroom.  My son Richard loves good bands, and I wanted Ben and Richard to meet.  So, Ben is now hooking up with my son on the 21st October.  WHAT A SMALL AND WONDERFUL WORLD WE LIVE IN.  He is performing on 27 October at the HOUSE OF BLUES in Las Vegas;  Mrs. Moore and I are planning to go.

Is this fun, or what!?

EUROSTAR LONDON, ST. PANCRAS TO PARIS, GARE DU NORD *** Heads Up! ***

Filed under: Eurostar — tmooresr @ 8:00 am

Mrs. Moore, our friend June Gibson, and I are taking the EuroStar from London St. Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord next September.  I wanted to warn my readers to BOOK YOUR TICKETS AS FAR AHEAD AS POSSIBLE.  Tickets booked 4 months ahead are 66 pounds return;  tickets booked the week of travel are 364 pounds.  We booked our tickets this afternoon and were pleased to learn how to save “a ton of money” with EuroStar.  Heads up!  You can book on line which makes London/Paris travel very uncomplicated.  Fabulous! (By the way, while you are waiting for your train, have a “Tarte Normandie” and a cup of hot chocolate at Paul Patisserie.  It is fabulous and very rich.  Oh well, who cares?!

THE EUROSTAR: BOOK YOUR TICKETS AS SOON AS YOU CAN

Filed under: Eurostar — tmooresr @ 6:51 am

I learned a long time ago that it is best to book your EUROSTAR reservations as far in advance as possible.  When I was very naive, I went to St Pancras International Station to buy my ticket and leave for Paris the same day.  Well, I was shocked by the price.  It reminded me of a hotel in Las Vegas where rates are “sky high” if by chance there is last-minute demand.  Last summer, my friend Maureen and I went to Paris for lunch at the Ritz and returned to London later in the day.  I had bought the tickets almost two months in advance;  it all sounds very glamorous, but it was very reasonable.  This is my suggestion:  MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS AS SOON AS YOU CAN.  I hope this reservation form will help you.  Go to the EUROSTAR website and have a great and fun trip!

EUROSTAR TO PARIS: WARNING! WARNING! HEADS UP!

Filed under: Eurostar — tmooresr @ 3:01 pm

Heads up!  This is important.  We went to St. Pancras Station yesterday to get our EUROSTAR tickets to Paris —London to Paris and return, staying 4 nights in Paris.  We paid 279 pounds per ticket return.

IF WE HAD BOOKED 4/6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE ON THE EUROSTAR WEBSITE, THE TICKET WOULD HAVE BEEN 67 POUNDS RETURN.

So, when you have your exact dates you will be using the EUROSTAR, book on line immediately.  If you book early, the price is less than half, and if you are over 65, there are senior discounts.

This is vital information.  Wow!  What a difference.

Heads UP!

EUROSTAR LOGO HAS CHANGED. ST. PANCRAS HOTEL IS NOW OPEN

Filed under: Eurostar — tmooresr @ 9:26 pm

The logo for Eurostar has changed.  The magnificent Renaissance-style hotel at St. Pancras Station is now open to the public, and the Eurostar logo at Saint Pancras has a new look.  So, for those Chunnel travelers, don’t get confused with the new logo.  It is still the same Eurostar but with a different face.  Nice.
