LONDON’S PERFECT FLORIST: PAUL THOMAS, IN MAYFAIR *** TELEPHONE: 0207.4996889

Filed under: Flowers — tmooresr @ 4:53 pm

Over the years, the London Connection has been asked to deliver flowers to visitors staying in our flats.  We have given inquiries the names of numerous florists to handle these requests.  Today, I think I found the perfect solution for people needing to send flowers to people staying in London:  PAUL THOMAS in Shepherd Market, Mayfair.  Mrs. Moore and I were wandering around SHEPHERD MARKET, and we found Paul Thomas’s shop.  I walked past the scent of flowers, immediately stopped, and entered a world of absolute beauty:  flowers, flowers, and more flowers.  I thought to myself that this is exactly the establishment I need to assist the London Connection’s visitors to London.  On the walls were letters of appreciation from the Queen, from Princess Anne, on and on.  I sensed immediately that this was THE TOP OF THE LINE.  I asked if they do small orders like a single arrangement; they smiled and said YES.  I asked if they deliver;  they said CERTAINLY.  Perfect!  So, have a look at this!  Wow

LONDON FLOWER STALLS

Filed under: Flowers — tmooresr @ 7:28 pm

FLOWER STALLS are everywhere in London.  Last evening, while I was wandering around the Mansion House, I ran into a wonderful flower stall.  I stopped, took a photo, and chatted with the lady who owned the stall.  She told me she went to the modern Covent Garden at 5:00 AM each morning and buys her flowers she will sell throughout the day.  While I was talking with this lovely person, she told me that she has several friends who also have stalls, and they meet up in the morning for breakfast at the Covent Garden Market on the South Bank and select their flowers which they take away with them each morning.  I was fascinated by this charming lady who says there are over 500 flower stalls in London.  Goodness, I love London.

THE NEW COVENT GARDEN FRUIT AND FLOWER MARKET — 5:00 AM IS THE TIME TO GO!

Filed under: Flowers — tmooresr @ 9:43 pm

When I was very, very young Covent Garden was not a transformed tourist gathering center;  it was the real market for central London.  A few years later, THE NEW COVENT GARDEN FRUIT AND FLOWER MARKET was moved to the south side of the Thames in an incredible space.  For those who love flowers particularly, get up early and take a cab to the NEW COVENT GARDEN, and you will  ”stand all amazed” at what you will see:  flowers from all over the world just arriving by air.  I love to spend at least one morning each trip visiting with the florists, many of whom I have known for years.  How to get back to your hotel?  Walk out of the market and flag down a cab.  Everyone will help you.  This is an incredible activity to do while you are in London if you love flowers as I do.  You will see the flowers here in the Market early in the morning, and you will see them again in all the flower stalls all over central London.

The flower market has come a long way since Victorian times;  look at this wonderful image:
