MEMORIAL TO AGATHA CHRISTIE ON ST MARTIN’S LANE, COVENT GARDEN

When I arrived in London a few weeks ago, I walked to Covent Garden from Haymarket and ran into the new memorial to Agatha Christie.  It is a very attractive bronze to a very deserving lady.  Check it out!

APSLEY HOUSE: CANOVA’S MARBLE “NAPOLEON” AND ITS PLASTER CAST IN MILAN

APSLEY HOUSE is one of the least visited museums in London.  I visit Apsley House at least once a year, and rarely is there anyone there.  The Duke of Wellington’s collection is outstanding:  china, silver, paintings, medals, uniforms, on and on.  When I ran across this article this morning, I decided that I had to give Apsley House another post on this blog to encourage people to enjoy this historic museum.

SPENCER HOUSE: TAKE A TOUR EVERY SUNDAY BETWEEN 10:30AM AND 5:45PM (Closed January and August)

Filed under: LONDON HISTORY,London Monuments — tmooresr @ 11:07 am

Spencer House is one of last great 18th century aristocratic houses in London.  The great house was completely restored during the past 10 years, but it is open to the public only on Sundays between 10:30 AM and 5:45 PM (Closed January and August).  I have a great deal of attachment for this great 18th century Spencer residence because our family lived next door for years, before we moved to Belgravia last year.  The history of Spencer House is incredible, and today visitors are dazzled by the interiors.  Visitors to London usually don’t know about the magnificent 18th century interiors of this residence,  and very small groups visit the house.  I want to alert my readers.  You will really enjoy your visit.  I love this fabulous part of St. James, near Buckingham Palace.  We did for years.
