I just received this image of the Mander family’s Christmas table at Owlpen Manor, Gloucestershire. I cannot describe how wonderful it is to be at Owlpen. It is the “real thing.” The Manders have been my friends for many years, and I hold this family very dear to me.

OWLPEN MANOR: LORD AND LADY MANDER ~~ I LOVE THESE WONDERFUL PEOPLE AND THEIR VACATION COTTAGE BUSINESS
Nicky, Karin, and I have been friends for many years. I love Owlpen Manor, and I agree with Prince Charles who called it the most romantic place in Britain. I pay tribute to these country estate owners, for generations connected to Britain’s heritage. Lord Mander’s grandmother used to needlepoint with Queen Mary; now that’s getting pretty connected! Lady Mander is a fabulous cook, a fantastic mother, an incredible gardener, a determined wife, and the most wonderful friend. Nicky? He is everything wonderful in that old world of England which finds full expression at Owlpen manor. He is a great scholar, graduate of Cambridge, and a world class historian on British history and architecture. He is brilliant and loves wonderful trivia. I could live there forever. OWLPEN MANOR: “The loveliest place in Britain” Fodors; “Owlpen, the epitome of the English village” HRH the Prince of Wales
Lord and Lady Mander are two of my favorite people in Britain. I love them dearly. Their estate at OWLPEN MANOR is an amazing place with wonderful holiday cottages and facilities for weddings and special events. This week Lord Mander whom we call “Nicky” is representing Owlpen Manor at a WEDDING EXPOSITION at Earls Court. I took this photograph off Lady Mander’s (Karin Mander) FACEBOOK page. I encourage all my readers to book one of the OWLPEN MANOR COTTAGES for a week in the Cotswolds. It is indeed “the epitome of an English village.” I love the Mander family; we have been close friends for years. They are people who “make sense” to me in this chaotic world!

Nicky and Karin Mander are two of my best friends. Even if I am not in England, my heart beats faster when I think about the wonderful times I have spent at Owlpen. Check their website for availability of a cottage–goodness, you will have the most delightful time. Lord and Lady Mander are always on a trip to somewhere in the world, and I roar when I see the photographs. They are truly inveterate travelers. I love them dearly. I think you will enjoy these photographs. THIS IS THE BEST OF OLD ENGLAND IN EVERY WAY. I love it dearly.

OWLPEN MANOR: Sir Nicholas and Lady Mander *** I do wish you could know them!
I have written several articles about Owlpen Manor over the years. It is one of the most idyllic Gloucestershire houses in all of England. The Prince of Wales references Owlpen often in his publications. But articles about the house are not enough. The house has a huge soul, a fabulous personality, and an immense aroma of a family who loves life, people, history, scholarship, fine food, and friends. Pictures of the estate are beautiful, but you have to visit Owlpen to really understand why this spot on the planet is so loved. Owlpen Manor is in the heart of the Cotswolds, but its soul is universal. I love this place, and I adore the family that lives here. Please meet Sir Nicholas and Lady Mander whom we all call NICKY and KARIN. You are in for a real treat. They are always traveling, so I will publish some of their photographs taken while on the move to somewhere! Wonderful. I love these people; they are the heart and soul of old England. Nicky is a great scholar with high honors from Cambridge, and Karin is an incredible cook, mother, gardner, and business woman who runs a large estate with all its cottages. Incredible. Actually, REMARKABLE.
