Three days of amazing fun! If you enjoy music, dancing, and good food, NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL is for you. I have gone to Notting Hill Carnival three times, and every experience has been incredible. I stand there, tapping my foot and dancing a few steps enjoying the contrast of the Caribbean world set in a very English architectural setting. There is no better place to experience the ever-changing multi-cultural world that the international city of London has become. THIS IS CARNIVAL and all that that word implies.Wow!
Sunday is the Children’s Parade and family day, and Sunday is for dancing in the streets, floats, Caribbean food everywhere and MUSIC, MUSIC, AND MUSIC . The street party continues all day until about 8:00 PM when things begin to calm down and night life in the clubs and pubs begins to start up.
The atmosphere is “Carnival.” That means there will be all kinds of people enjoying the fun. Take precaution with your valuables. Take only what you absolutely have to have. For me, I put my camera around my neck, my cash where it is safe away from thugs’ fingers, and I enjoy the fun. Remember what my father used to say: ”Put your valuables in your deep front pockets; if they get it there, they deserve it.” I do better than that; I put my valuables well buried and zipped in. Don’t let a pick-pocket ruin your day.
The crowds in Notting Hill will be amazing, and some of the tube stations will be closed. For me, I take a cab from central London and tell the driver to take me to the closest point to the parade that he can take the cab. It is not worth trying public transportation on a day like this. How to get home? Just follow the crowds. They will know.
Enjoy the photos. Perfect event for photographers. This event is a spectacle for the eyes! What do the kids say these days? EYE CANDY
