At a party in the 1960′s, a lady asked Princess Margaret how the Queen was. Princess Margaret turned on her heel and said: ”Which one? My mother, my sister, or my husband?”

I wouldn’t trust Viscount Linley whatsoever. We know of rumors of drug hints, double sheets, insurance collections, disregard for sale of family possessions–on and on the rumors go. Smoke and fire theory? What is so sad is he thinks the “world” doesn’t know, OR he doesn’t care. What a contrast to his sister. Read this auction summary of Princess Margaret’s royal gifts. And the Queen stays above it, but to submit her to this! ET TU, BRUTE, LINLEY? I support Prince Charles’s style of cutting off the hangers-on who seem to continue to embarrass the Queen. Lord Linley for one!

Princess Margaret Rose was born at Glamis Castle, the residence of the Earl and Countess of Strathmore, parents of Queen Elizabeth Consort of George VI. She was the sparkle in the old King’s life, and no one could see anything but a glittering future for this beautiful little royal creature. Her memorial in the gardens of Glamis Castle is a lonely and very solemn place. Her ashes were placed in the vault with her parents’s coffins in St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. How is that all could have gone so wrong?

A few hours ago, I put up a few comments about the relationship between Princess Margaret and Robin Douglas-Home. I was directed to several blogs today about the accountant in Jersey who was pursuing his belief that he was the illegitimate off-spring of a love affair between Princess Margaret and Douglas-Home. There have been rumblings of this relationship for years, but the Princess insisted that their friendship was Platonic in all regards. I never paid much attention to the entire matter because these kinds of claims came and went during the Princess’s lifetime. I was entertained by the gossip that seemed to follow Margaret following the Princess’s brushing off a piece of “fluff” on Peter Townsend’s uniform. After this event, there was no end to the tragedies which led to gossip about her private life. There was definitely an air of “revenge” in Margaret’s behavior after the government refused to allow a marriage between the Princess and Townsend. Those of us who are old enough were sad to see the life of the Princess with “star qualities” drift from one dalliance to another. Her marriage to Lord Snowdon (who slept on “both sides of the sheets” and was a cross-dresser) did not spark the energy that Princess Margaret needed. From this tragedy to the next tragedy to the next tragedy are all history—all but one small detail? Did Princess Margaret consummate her affection for “Sweet Robin,” resulting in a child? The issue is in the courts gain.
This evening, my brother called me and told me he had read my post about the Robin Douglas-Home/Princess Margaret-illegitimate-child case. My brother is older than I am and had greater access to our “wonderfully gossipy” English grandmother who was a bit of a “primma donna” herself. She had her once-a-month luncheons in Laguna Beach, California, where NO ONE could tell the truth. The ladies had to fib all during wonderful lunches. Those luncheons were such fun and anticipated that they became known in my grandmother’s circles as DOTTY’S PARTIES. Granny, whom my mother called “Tattler” was bigger in life than most children’s granny’s: she read gossip magazines (thus her nickname), kept up on all the London gossip even between her periods of London “Abandonment.” She was never much interested in a true story; rather, she preferred a good lie from a creative friend whose fib entertained my Granny immensely. If the lie went unchecked, my Granny used to say: ”HOME FREE.” With that background, you can understand that it was this Granny who gave my mother a book MARGARET: THE LAST REAL PRINCESS. My brother informs me that still has this book written by a tabloid author, Noel Botham.
Well, I went checking on the Internet to see what I could find about this book about the Margaret/Robin Douglas-Home affair until I can get my hands on the gossipy pages. As my father used to say: ”I am not interested in gossip UNLESS it is really good gossip.” Well, this is good stuff. A tear for Princess Margaret who deserved better than life gave her–all because the government said NO to Peter Townsend, the love of her life. In these days, it would be a simple matter of building a title for the fashionable Captain Peter Townsend. In some regards the Establishment sacrificed the Princess. And this is what followed.
AN ASIDE: Several years ago, Mrs. Moore and I were eating at Joe Allen’s in Covent Garden. The Lady Armstrong-Jones and the Chatto chap were sitting at the next table. In certain poses, I couldn’t get over how this lovely young lady looked like her mother and the Queen. She was not “pretty” in the conventional ways like her mother and the Queen who are beautiful, but she had that “Princess Margaret” look and wonderful smile. I just can’t imagine how she feels as the press is again running headlines about her mother’s relationship with Robin Douglas-Home AND EVEN A POSSIBLE HALF BROTHER. ”No me digas” as we say in Spain.

Robin Douglas-Home was a very “ill” individual with serious mental problems. It is unfortunate he lured his “trophies” and tainted their lives with his sick ego. This is a very unfortunate article about a gentleman who is still racked with pain over Robin Douglas-Home’s psychotic dalliances. Can you image the pain this causes the Queen who is certainly aware of her sister’s failed relationships and many unhappinesses. It is a tragedy all around; hopefully, it can be put behind us very soon.

It is all over the Internet today that the Duchess of Cambridge is PREGNANT. Hm! It surely looks like the rumor is true.
