IT IS THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING IN LONDON *** THE CITY IS ALL IN BLOOM
Each year, Mrs. Moore and I plant 5,000 daffodil and tulip bulbs. I learned a long time ago that after a long and and cold winter, high in the Rocky Mountains, a spring trip to London to see the daffodils and tulips is the best medicine. Spring comes earlier in London, so I get two springs which I really need at times. For me, London is the most beautiful city in the world, and in the spring, it is beyond belief. To wander through Green Park, St James’s Park, Kew Gardens, Kenwood House Gardens with spring bulbs and blossoming magnolias is pleasure beyond measure. Let us enjoy a wonderful spring which remains a constant reminder of the earth’s joy renewing itself. I wish governments and empires and republics and dictatorships and kingdoms could learn the lesson–Oh goodness, we need “renewal.”
