THE QUEEN’S CHILDREN ARE IN CONFLICT: CHARLES, CAMILLA, WILLIAM, KATE, HENRY ARE IN—ANDREW, BEATRICE, EUGENIE, EDWARD, SOPHIE ARE OUT!

When only Prince Charles, Camilla, William, Kate, and Henry joined the Queen on the BALCONY of Buckingham Palace for the Diamond Jubilee Fly Over, the world got a very strong message that THIS MUCH-TRIMMED-DOWN Royal Family is the New Order. I understand what is happening here:  the public wants a much smaller Royal Family.  For me, Andrew and his daughters are better out of Royal Service;  Andrew is simply a clumsy, arrogant men–his daughters are nice girls, but…; Edward and Sophie are the Queen’s favorites, and I am only warm toward their ability to serve.  The Queen’s cousins of her age and genration who are retiring and growing older will be missed in some cases like Princess Alexandra and the Duke of Gloucester.  Prince Michael of Kent and his wife “Princess Pushy” will not be missed.  I have no love for the Duke of Kent–his wife is an unfortunate character.  So, Charles, I agree with your decision for the survival of the Monarchy in the United Kingdom.  What is certain is the Prince of Wales would never have made these moves had he not had the Queen’s support.  This is an amazing article.  I think you will enjoy this read.  We have to remember that the Queen and her sister joined their parents King George VI and Queen Elizabeth;  the public identified with a smaller, close Royal Family.  I think the Queen realizes that her family has grown large and can’t be funded by the public during economically challenging times.  Good decision.  BUT, Prince Charles must reconsider his and Camilla’s spending habits.  I wonder if Charles can re-style his life.

KING GEORGE V’s 1917 PROCLAMATION: The name of the Royal House of Windsor

Filed under: The House of Windsor — tmooresr @ 11:43 pm

Lately, there has been a great deal of discussion and confusion about the changing of the  BritishRoyal House’s name from SAXE-COBURG-GOTHA to WINDSOR.  King George V faced anti-German sentiment in Britain during World War I, putting the King in a very difficult position since his family and relatives were largely German or of German descent.  Many of his cousins including the Kaiser lived in Germany’;  many of them had been close family friends.  To disassociate himself and the British Royal Family from his German family, he changed the name of the Royal House to WINDSOR, probably the most British name he could have chosen.  Windsor Castle had been the seat of the British Royal Family since the time of William the Conqueror and was the symbol of everything British.  Let me see if I can clarify this very confusing situation with bits of information which might help.  We must remember that King George V made effort to divest himself of his German identity.  He made such an issue of this that Queen Elizabeth II when small called her grandfather GRANDPA ENGLAND.  There was a lot of meaning in that expression which the young Princess Elizabeth had learned well.
